I heard that a lot of snow had fallen in the Asagiri area on the National Foundation Day, so I went out to Lake Tanuki. There was more snow than I had expected, and it was piled up on the surrounding roads and tree branches. I was thrilled to see the picturesque scenery reminiscent of a snowy country.

I met a lovely couple in the grounds of Sengen Shrine, where the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Their backs looked like they were in a "moment of bliss." I asked the couple if I could take a photo of their backs, and they agreed, so I did.

While traveling by car, I noticed a beautiful cluster of flowers growing beside a narrow waterway for rice paddies. I was feeling confused because I didn't know what kind of pink flowers made up the majority of the flowers, but then I had the opportunity to talk to the landowner and when I asked him the name of the flower, he told me it was a "fly-weed dianthus." He treated them as if they were weeds, saying, "I thought I'd pulled them all out, but it seems the seeds were left behind and so they've come back like this," but to me they are the very definition of a beautiful "village flower garden."
