Tanukiko
Lake Tanuki is located in a corner of the Asagiri Plateau, on the western foot of the majestic Mount Fuji in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
In spring, about 350 Somei-Yoshino and wild cherry trees bloom along the lakeside, and in early summer fireflies can be seen on the north side.
You can go carp fishing and boating on the lake.
There is also a walking path along the lake where you can go for a stroll or rent a bicycle.
As autumn deepens, the air at Lake Tanuki, located at an altitude of 650m, becomes clear and many people come to observe the stars.
Please come and visit Lake Tanuki, surrounded by abundant nature and a soothing green space.
The public Tanuki Lake Campsite (advance reservation required) is located on the shore.
On the south bank, there is a shop, camping area, and bicycle rental reception called "Yoraku no Ie," where you can also purchase souvenirs and enjoy light meals.
Because the water is shallow and the winds are relatively calm, the lake is famous for its upside-down reflection of Mount Fuji on its surface.
The observation deck "Tanuki Lake Fugaku Terrace" will reopen in front of Kyukamura Fuji in 2024. You can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji from the wooden deck.
