That hidden rock
It is said that Soga's Hidden Rock is the place where the Soga brothers (older brother Juro Sukenari and younger brother Goro Tokimune) spyed out Kudo Suketsune's camp, which was said to be located on the east side of the rock, and held a secret meeting to plan a raid on the castle.
The Soga brothers' raid began when their father, Kawazu Saburo Sukeyasu, was assassinated by Kudo Suketsune in Izu over a territorial dispute. As they grew up, the brothers craved revenge, and on the evening of May 4, 1193 (the 5th year of Kenkyu), they killed Kudo Suketsune, who was participating in the Fuji Makigari hunting event.
The "Soga Brothers' Revenge," one of Japan's three great vendettas, is known as the incident in which brothers Soga Sukenari and Soga Tokimune killed Kudo Suketsune, their father's enemy, during the Fuji Makigari hunting event led by Minamoto no Yoritomo. Near Shiraito Falls in Fujinomiya City, there are related spots such as Soga no Kakureiwa, where the Soga brothers are said to have hid, the Soga brothers' sacred ground, the grave of Kudo Suketsune, their target of vendetta, and Soga Shrine, which enshrines the Soga brothers.
