Yabusame Festival (R8)
The Yabusame Festival will be held for three days on May 5th, 4th, and 3th.
The Yabusame at Asama Taisha Shrine is a Shinto ritual with over 4 years of tradition that is said to have begun in 1193, when Minamoto no Yoritomo led his military commanders to the shrine during a hunting party at the foot of Mount Fuji and dedicated a Yabusame performance.
On the 5th, the main day of the festival, after a parade through the city, the spectacular Ogasawara-style Yabusame ceremony is held on the cherry blossom riding grounds within the temple grounds.
*During the training, traffic congestion is expected in the city, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation. (There will be no road closures.)
