Fujinomiya City is located in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, 110km from Tokyo and 288 km from Osaka. The northeastern part of the city includes the summit of Mt. Fuji. The city has a population of approximately 135,000.

As well as being located at the foot of the mountain registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Fujinomiya also has unique attractions such as rainbow trout, numerous breweries, dairy products and an award-winning local fried noodle dish called Fujinomiya Yakisoba.
